Former Nyasa Big Bullets Assistant coach Elia Kananji, who was sacked together with Head Coach Rodgers Yassin, in the closing stages of last season, has said he is hopeful that he will deliver if he finds the environment conducive at new team, Masters Security FC.
Kananji, who also coached Be Forward Wanderers was yesterday announced as an assistant to Masters Head Coach Abasi Makawa on a two-year contract.
According to a local Newspaper, the capture of the coach was announced by Masters Owner, Alfred Gangata, who said: “we are strengthening our team in all departments. We are happy that we have added Kananji to our technical team. I believe that his experience will help us a lot as he has been at Bullets and Wanderers as head coach.”
On the development Kananji told the Paper: “It is true that I am now at Masters. They have told me what they want and, if we create a good working environment, we will definitely do well.”
Meanwhile, Gangata also revealed plans of recruiting a Technical Director after the resignation of team manager Muhammad Selemani and General Secretary Zachariah Nyirenda who are vying for positions at Super League of Malawi ahead of elections set to be held on 2 March, 2019.
Gangata said he is keeping tabs on Zimbabwean coach, Lazarus Magaya, as the top candidate for the post.
“Magaya is also a good coach who is rated highly alongside his compatriot Callisto Pasuwa [of Bullets].
“He was an assistant coach for Swaziland, now eSwatini national team. He is a CAF B-Licence holder,” he further told the Paper.
