Super League of Malawi (SULOM) has announced that this year’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held on 2 March, 2019, where the new executive committee shall also be elected into office.
The office holders at the Super League body are voted by three delegates from all participating teams in the country’s topflight TNM Super League, and in this case, 48 delegates from all the 2019 season’s 16 teams shall cast their votes.
The announcement for the meeting has been made yesterday through a press statement which was signed by SULOM’S General Secretary, Williams Banda.
Part of the statement reads: “The annual general meeting shall be attended by the 16 Super League clubs who will be represented by three delegates per club.
“In line with article 22 (2d), clubs are supposed to nominate members to the Executive Committee not less than 14 days and not more than 28 days to the annual general meeting, at which election of office bearers is to take place, to Sulom secretariat.”
According to a report by a local Newspaper, some members already in the system have expressed interest for higher posts.
“Sulom Treasurer Tiya Somba Banda and Vice- General Secretary Thoko Chazema have expressed interest in vying for the presidency whereas legal adviser Gilbert Mitawa is eyeing the vice presidency,” indicates the paper.
It also adds that: “Reports indicate that Masters Security Team Manager, Muhammad Seleman, might contest for the position of legal advisor.
“Charles Manyungwa and Godfrey Makawano have expressed interest in Executive Committee posts.”
