Silver Strikers will take on Gabonese side, AOC MS FC, in the second leg of CAF Confederation Cup Preliminary round this afternoon at Bingu National Stadium (BNS) in the capital Lilongwe.
The teams will met again after the first leg of the competition in which Silver Strikers travelled to Gabon and lost by a goal to nil which came in the second half in Libreville.
The Central Bankers have to make sure they score a minimum of 2 goals and not concede so that they proceed to the next round of the competition.
Upon arrival at Kamuzu International Airport on Monday, the team’s coach, Ondo Brice, told journalists that their one-nil home win is not enough, through an English interpreter since he speaks French, and also said they will play today’s game as if they are coming from a nil-nil draw.
“Silver Strikers play good football and we can’t hide the fact that we give them respect. In this case 1-0 is not enough and we feel we have to play the game as at 0-0.
“It won’t be easy but we have to strike first and try to neutralise them. They [Silver] are an experienced side and for us this is the first time to compete at this level. Nonetheless, want to win at the end of the match,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Silver Strikers Coach, Lovemore Fazili, confirmed that his charges will try as much as possible to overturn the tables after losing in Gabon.
