Ministry of Health has postponed the much anticipated Big Four HIV Self-Test Netball Bonanza aimed at promoting awareness for the HIV Self-Test kit which was supposed to be played this weekend at Blantyre Youth Centre.
The postponement has been justified to have been caused due to unavailability of the minister of health Atupele Muluzi over the weekend, who will be attending to another assignment.
This has been announced by the Spokesperson for the ministry, Joshua Malango, who also added that they will fix the date for the bonanza later in the coming year.
“Basically, the minister responsible [Atupele Muluzi] is engaged in another equally important assignment and we would like him to grace the occasion as well,” he told a leading local newspaper.
“Therefore, we felt it wise to shift it to a later date so that all major stakeholders should be available for the bonanza,” Malango added.
The Paper also quizzed Blantyre and Districts Netball Committee General Secretary, Annie Hanjahanja, who said the move is welcome as netball is a viable sport to be used as an awareness tool.
“Netball can be used as an awareness tool and we will be ready for the event,” she confirmed to the Newspaper.
Reigning Rainbow Paints Blantyre and Districts Netball League (BDNL) champions Kukoma Diamonds, Tigresses, Thunder Queens and Prison Sisters will battle it out in the off-season bonanza.
