FIFA and France Football Federation (FFF) have signed an agreement that will see France helping in the development of football in French speaking African countries.

The deal was signed in the presence of FIFA President, Gianni Infantino, as part of raising standards of football.

According to BBC Sport, the world football governing body’s president, Gianni Infantino, and FFF boss Noël Le Graët signed the deal with hope that it helps in contributing to the Fifa Forward Program.

“This agreement is a first for Fifa, it is symbolic and important, it is an example to be followed by others.

“France works a lot for the whole world, the French Football Federation opens its doors to other federations and helps those who need it, which is the essence of what we have to do in the past at Fifa and in this global sport that is football,” Infantino said.

It has now taken 56 years since the country’s colonial rule on the sub-Saharan Africa ended, but there is still a strong bond between France and Africa, more especially in the sport.

The FFF director general Florence Hardouin also said: “they would “greatly help the development” of football in Francophone Africa via this “collaboration agreement” signed with Fifa.”

Senegal, Mali, Ivory Coast and Niger are some of the French-speaking countries involved to be supported.
