“My wish is to see women football improve in this country, as you know we only depend on FAM League and presidential cup. So, if there could be a chance of having many cup competitions as in men football I think it could be positive step in the development of our football,” she explained.

On media categories, young journalist, Praise Mike Majawa, from Galaxy FM was among the winners from the media category, and was given K30, 000 as the best electronic journalist.

Asked on his own perspective of how the season has been run, Majawa said it was great, except for some problems with the pitches.

“The competition was good despite some hiccups. Football venues are not in good condition, for instance Chilinde ground and Mtsinje ground, but all in all the tournament has created a platform for female footballers to showcase their talent,” the award winning journalist said.

The completion is sponsored by Malawi football mother body, Football Association of Malawi (FAM).

The League’s general Secretary, Frankie Kalilombe, described this year’s season as very competitive, and also says it went smoothly according to plans.

“The tournament was great and very competitive. Very competitive in the sense that last season it was Skippers who won it through a league decider and this season DD Sunshine has also done the same.”

“Another factor is that we have managed to finish the league as planned from start. All the games were played as scheduled due to good relationship we developed with the teams and referees following the preparatory meetings we had before kickoff.”

“We have also seen a new team Hungry Lions breaking through and finish on position four which is a paying rank. So all these sum up how competitive the League was,” he explained.

The six team tourney started in August and ended last month on 27 October, 2018.
