Silver Strikers were clashed by stubborn Civo Sporting Club on Saturday at Silver Stadium in which substitute Ranken Mwale scored an 87nth minute winner.
Civo were very sharp in the first half of the game testing Brighton Munthari, who made costly mistakes in several occasions.
Isaac Msiska opened the scoring in the 17th minute of the game through an audacious overhead kick to make it one-nil.
After 14 minutes, Yunus Sherrif provided an assist for Zikani Kasambala to make it one-all for the Central Bankers in the fierce encounter.
In the second half of the match Civo continued to dominate the mouthwatering derby until the last 10 minutes when it seemed Bankers had upped their game.
Bankers then relaxed in the dying minutes when it seemed the game would end in a goalless draw. Then former Silver midfielder Blessings Tembo unleashed a shot which deflected off lucky substitute Ranken Mwale to put the game to bed in the 87th minute.
Civo were winless in five consecutive matches against Capital rivals Silver since 2016, managing 2 draws and losing 3 times in the process.
The result means Silver Strikers remain second after failing to cut the gap to three points from league leaders Nyasa Big Bullets, who have a game in hand. On the other hand, Civo have cemented their current position with 34 points.
