A 100% start for Barcelona in Laliga has ended yesterday after a 2-all draw against Girona at Camp Nou, where Barca were reduced to ten men in the 35th minute of the match.
Barca Coach Enersto Valverde was forced to rotate the team which won against PSV in the UEFA Champions League. He replaced Samuel Umtiti, Ivan Rakitic and Philippe Coutinho for Lenglet, Arthur and Arturo Vidal.
Leo Messi scored in the 19th minute of the match to give Barca the lead when he was teed up by Arthur after a fine work by midfielder Arturo Vidal, before defender Clement Lenglet was dismissed after a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) review when he elbowed an opponent at the 35th minute of the game.
Just before half time, former Middleborough striker, Cristian Stuani, took an advantage of Lenglet’s red and equalised to make it one-all.
Five minutes into the first half Stuani scored the second for Girona to make it two goals to one, and it was later on cancelled by Barca defender Gerard Pique through a towering header.
Barca have now dropped the first points after five games into the 2018/19 Laliga season. But despite the disappointing home draw, Barca are back on top of the Spanish Laliga table displacing Real Madrid with goal difference, after Real defeated Espanyol by one nil on Saturday.
