The Malawi Queens have finished 7th in the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in Australia after defeating Northern Ireland 60:53 on Thursday morning.
The Queens lost their first match against England on March and went down again against the much improved Uganda.
Malawi Queens resurrected on Sunday when they defeated the New Zealand 57:53 before defeating Scotland on Tuesday 51:50.
The Queens maintained their winnings ways on Wednesday against Wales 68:53 but the win was not enough for the Queens to reclaim their 6th position at World level.
The Queens needed to beat Wales by at least a 47-baskert margin to displace Uganda and possibly compete for the fifth position.
Speaking in an interview after the match Malawi Queen coach Whiyte Mlilima said fresh blood are needed in the Queen squad for the team to fully compete with top teams in the World.
Mlilima also attributed the poor show to lack of enough preparations for the team.
