Malawi national netball team arrived in the country on Tuesday through Chileka International Airport Commonwealth Games in Australia.
The Queens, who won four games and lost twice at the Games, did not receive the usual pomp and fanfare, as few people welcomed them.
Football Association of Malawi Technical Director, John Kaputa, who is also Malawi Olympic Committee Vice-General Secretary, Southern Region Netball League General Secretary Annie Hanjahanja and husbands to some of the Queens players were among the people that welcomed the fallen Queens.
Speaking in an interview with the press after landing at the Airport, Queens Captain Joanna Kachilika said Malawians should not worry about team’s performance at the competition.
Kachilika said a win with New Zealand’s Silver Ferns is clear testimony that the team is another force to reckon.
She also expressed hope that the team will reclaim its sixth position.
On her part, Netball Association of Malawi President, Khungekile Matiya said time has come for NAM to invests in youthful side.
