Nyasa Big Bullets defender John Lanjesi has taken over a role of the club’s captain after Chiukepo Msowoya left for South Africa’s Golden Arrows.
Langezi has welcomed the appointment with a open arm, said he did not take it for grated.
“I am humbled. I don’t take it for granted. I did not expect it because I know Bullets have a lot of good players capable of leading the team,” Lanjesi said.
Bullets Trustees Genera Secretary, Jim Kalua, confirmed the choice of Lanjesi, said the defender is experienced and can play as either a centre back or right back.
However, other reports show that some Bullets senior players are not happy with the choice of Lanjesi.
But Bullets experienced defender George Nyirenda has welcomed Lanjesi’s appointment.
“Before the coach made the choice, he gave the opportunity for the players to do so and they failed. He eventually made his choice and that is why the players support the coach’s decision,” Nyirenda explained.
And defender Yamikani Fodya on Thursday confirmed his appointment as deputy of Lanjesi.
