Golden Arrows coach backs Msowoya for scoring an own goal

Former Nyasa Big Bullets forward Chiukepo Msowoya netted goal to his own side Golden Arrows in a 2-5 defeat to Absa Premiership leaders SuperSport United on Wednesday night at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

Msowoya, who has joined Arrows on a six-month deal during the January transfer window as a free agent, he has started with bad note.

The former Orlando Pirates forward scored an own goal just after Kudakwashe Mahachi’s 58th minute chip had launched a comeback to make the score 2-1 at the time.

Golden Arrows coach Clinton Larsen is confident that new signing Chiukepo Msowoya will regain his confidence after a dismal showing on his debut.

“I think if you looked at his half performance, it was a good performance. I can’t speak for what other people say, but I look at the qualities that he brings to the team, he really hustled upfront, he put them under pressure and they have got big central defenders,” Larsen said after the match.

“He gave them as much as he got. Held the ball up nicely for us, and that is why we brought him into the team. We will try and create more chances for him and hopefully he will score a few.”

Meanwhile, Golden Arrows are now on position eight with 20 points.
